What We Do
Crossroads Literacy provides free services to meet the literacy needs of adults in Rusk County. We train volunteers and match them with an adult student to provide one-to-one tutoring. Tutors are supported with on-going help in working with the student.
Literacy needs may include:
- Improving reading, writing, or math skills
- Preparing to pass a GED/HSED
- Getting a driver's license
- Developing general or specific job skills
- Financial literacy
- Learning to speak English

Become or refer a student
Students set their individual goals and are matched with a volunteer tutor who helps them meet those goals. If you would, or you know someone who would, like to improve his/her reading, writing, speaking, or math skills, call Crossroads Literacy.
Become a volunteer tutor
You can make a big difference in someone's life by becoming a volunteer tutor. After an initial interview, you will receive training in working with adult learners and then be matched to work one-to-one with a student. Most volunteers give an hour or two a week to help the student meet their literacy goals. Crossroads Literacy will provide on-going support to help you succeed as a tutor.
