What is Lifeline?
Lifeline is a federal benefit program that can lower the cost of phone or internet services.
Qualifying customers will get $9.25 towards their monthly bill.
Consumers who live on tribal lands can qualify for an additional benefit.
If you live on Tribal lands, you can receive a discount up to $34.25 per month, and assistance for first-time connection charges.
Qualifications
You can qualify for the Lifeline Program through participation in any of the following programs:
- SNAP
- Medicaid
- SSI
- Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
- Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
If you live on tribal lands, you can also qualify through participation in any of the following programs:
- Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
- Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations Assistance
- Tribal Head Start (income based)
- Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF)
Or, you can qualify based on your income:

How to Apply
Applying for Lifeline is a two-step process:
- Set up your account and apply using the National Verifier tool. Click the link below to visit the Lifeline Support page to begin.
Lifeline Support Website - Once you have qualified, you can choose a cell phone or home internet provider.
Click on the Companies Near Me tab on the Lifeline Support website and follow the directions to enter your current zip code.
Click the button below for a step-by-step guide on how to apply to Lifeline.
If you are required to show proof of participation in qualifying programs or proof of income, there is a helpful guide available.

- You will be given a list of cell phone and home internet providers that participate in the Lifeline Program that you can then take to apply for the Lifeline benefit.
